Fall Prevention Workshops @ Your Library

Friday, January 13 from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. - Do you have concerns about falling? Learn ways to minimize the risk of falling and improve your balance. Presented by a representative from the Concord Regional VNA, this workshop series will benefit older adults. The workshop series will take place on Fridays, January 13 - March 2 (8 meetings) from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Space is limited. Please register online or by speaking with a library staff member.

New Look for Auto Repair Reference Center @ Your Library

The EBSCO Auto Repair Reference Center online resource has been updated. Key features of the update include: increased repair coverage – more than 37,000 vehicles included, user-friendly navigation, ability to print/email/save high-quality PDF records, and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD II) codes with description and troubleshooting information. This resource is available at www.hooksettlibrary.org using your library card number and password. Family Astronomy Night Returns @ Your Library

Wednesday, December 7 at 7:00 p.m. - Use the library’s telescopes to view craters on the moon, the rings around Saturn, and the moons of Jupiter! Bob Veilleux, retired Astronomy Teacher and Planetarium Educator at the McAuliffe Shepard Discovery Center in Concord, will demonstrate how easy it is to borrow and use the library’s new telescopes. Attendees will have an opportunity to look at some fantastic celestial objects using the telescopes! Please register online for this program.

Woodworking For The Holidays @ Your Library

Tuesday, November 29 at 6:30 p.m. - Stephen Carey, local resident and woodworker, will talk about woodworking projects for the holidays. This presentation will be of interest to woodworkers, hobbiests or anyone that wants to learn how to get started. This is Mr. Carey's second presentation at the library and he will be focusing on gifts that he has made for others using his woodworking skills. Fall Prevention Workshop @ Your Library

Monday, November 28 at 10:00 A.M. - Every Step Matters - Minimizing Slips, Trips, and Falls: Each year, one in every three adults age 65 and older falls. Falls can lead to moderate to severe injuries, such as hip fractures and head traumas, and can even increase the risk of early death. Fortunately, falls are largely preventable. Learn facts about falls and tips on reducing the risk. Presented by a representative from the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association, this workshop will be of interest to caregivers, older adults and others with an interest in the topic.
